PROPOSAL ON "SMOKE FREE STOVE" FOR INDIVIDUALS

If you are lucky in life, you can sometimes solve difficult problems by making one major change. In Nepal, the traditional cooking stoves impact the family, community, and environment in dangerous ways.  Stoves are usually constructed inside the house without chimneys.  The women spend many hours a day cooking for their families and breathing invariable smoke. Young children are exposed all day while their mothers cook. Health clinics in Nepal report a steady stream of patients with respiratory illness, coughs, asthma and related problems. In addition, the traditional stoves were never designed with efficiency in mind so they consume large amounts of firewood. Environmental damage and deforestation is highly increasing in Nepal. ADWAN works with saving women group members to build improved stoves in needed communities. By utilizing designs such as the “Breaks Stove”, improvements in health and well-being of families can be seen almost immediately.  These stoves eliminate the health risk by taking the smoke out of the house with a chimney as well as minimize the amount of firewood needed by up to 65%. The cost of building a break Stove is US$12.00 including materials and logistics. Please consider an individual donation to help a family in need and save the poor women from various diseases. Thanks to remarkable help for real change.
